The opportunity
We are looking for a Cloud Systems Engineer to play a key role in ReturnToWorkSA’s cloud transformation journey. In this role, you will design, build and maintain secure, reliable cloud infrastructure that supports our critical business systems. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure our cloud services continue to evolve with ReturnToWorkSA’s needs. The position
As the Cloud Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining cloud infrastructure that is secure, highly available and scalable. You will contribute to cloud architecture, lead infrastructure design, and support service provisioning, all while ensuring compliance and operational excellence throughout the infrastructure lifecycle. Working closely with the broader business at ReturntoWorkSA, you will help develop cloud architecture, design cloud services and ensure the right processes, people, and systems are in place to support and maintain the infrastructure effectively over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring system performance, managing capacity and maintaining security standards.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to design cloud services that align with business requirements.
- Working with vendors to implement and maintain cloud solutions.
- Leading incident response and contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Providing guidance on testing strategies and supporting user acceptance testing activities.
This role will be a full-time ongoing position.
About you
You are a proactive and knowledgeable cloud professional with a strong foundation in designing, implementing and supporting enterprise cloud services, ideally across platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Microsoft 365. You will ideally have a relevant tertiary qualification and ITIL Foundation certification and bring hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Azure Bicep or AWS CloudFormation. With a solid understanding of ITIL service management processes, you have worked effectively with IT vendors and managed service providers to deliver secure, scalable solutions. Your excellent communication skills enable you to engage confidently with both technical teams and business stakeholders, while your strong organisational abilities and commitment to continuous improvement ensure you stay ahead in a fast-evolving cloud landscape. You are also mindful of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures governing ICT infrastructure.
Special requirements/Conditions
- A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
- ITIL Foundation certification and other relevant industry certifications are highly desirable.
- Availability to work outside standard business hours, including participation in an on-call support roster will be required.

The total remuneration package for this position is starting from $116,863 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences.
